Breaking Boundaries

My work explores the intimate relationship between the artist, the audience, and the societal structures that shape us. Inspired by Robin Rhode's ability to transform everyday spaces into magical worlds and Richard Serra's emotive depth through texture and absence of light, I aim to create works that evoke a visceral connection with the viewer.

Through performance painting, I embody themes of restriction, class, and societal oppression, using my body as both a tool and a symbol to convey these struggles. My practice examines the power of breaking free from generational cycles of poverty and class-based limitations, juxtaposing historical hardships with modern opportunities for liberation through technology and creativity.

Rooted in concepts of conditioning, wealth, and societal control, my experimental pieces challenge ideologies while showcasing the resilience of the human spirit. By restricting my movements with ropes and confined spaces, I create paintings that transcend physical and metaphorical boundaries, emphasizing that art—and life—can flourish even in the face of limitations.
